Event FAQs

1. How do I apply to attend the event?

Places will be offered to all schools across Sheffield and Rotherham in the Autumn term 2020.  Due to uncertainty around Covid we will finalise the selection process in September. 

2. What age group is invited?

The North Star Science Summer School welcomes pupils from year 8 and year 9 only. However, any age group can participate in the North Star People’s Picture.

3. Can parents come to the event?

No, the event is only for pupils from year 8 and year 9 (and accompanying teachers). However, family members will be able to collect children from the venue and be able to explore the event space and Gullivers Valley. The evening event will also be open to invited families.

4. How do I get involved?

We are always looking to work with enthusiastic people. Contact Kris Mackay (k.mackay@syha.co.uk) to discuss how you can get involved.

5. Can I sponsor the event?

We are always looking to work with new partners. Contact Kris Mackay (k.mackay@syha.co.uk) to discuss.

6. Can I offer a workshop?

Yes, contact Samuel Palmer (s.palmer@syha.co.uk) for further information.

7. Will the event still take place with Covid-19?

Right now, we are planning with the assumption that the event can go ahead in full. However, we will follow the current government guidelines to ensure we keep all the people at the event safe. This might mean including some social distancing measures or performing some aspects of the event in an alternative way.
